Imperfect beginnings

I’ve been wanting to write this post ever since I thought of the title. But now I’m here at my wonderful Microsoft Surface (#lovethisdevice #buyyourstoday #amazonaffiliatelink) I’m struggling to remember what I wanted to say. So, I’m writing this anyway, guessing that was the point. That I am not sure what I am doing or how to go about it.

My imperfect beginning starts really with the idea, writing a children’s picture book. My real vision is for Caz & Dec to be a cartoon but those things aren’t necessarily compatible. Likewise, the story is aimed at 7 to 8 year olds. But the picture book target market is 3 to 5 year olds, which I’ve since learned. I’m not a writer either. My English is horrific, I have no formal or informal training in writing, either for picture books, scripts, storylines or as you can tell blogs. I do have an education in Art & Design but in all honestly, it’s been a long time since I did any.

But one thing I do have is a love for the growth mindset. By accepting that this project won’t be perfect I am accepting and expecting failure. And in failure, there will be the opportunity to learn and so I expect I will fail and fail again.

In taking action and getting started, before being ready, I will grow and develop my skills and perhaps myself. And that after all is what the picture book story, this blog, and project is all about 😊
